Insta-Friday: a dreamy afternoon to remember

In the winter, we bear down.

We stay in.

We wake in the dark, work hard, and then somehow, it's already dark again.

Right now, we're on this cusp of winter turning into spring, like horses on a racetrack just brought into the gates.

We are all snorting and stamping, itching with energy, ready to burst out of the sleepy season and into the sun.

We are all ready to stretch our legs.

And last week, my kids and I had that sweet chance, the first chance, to race in the warm afternoon sunshine.

We went to a local farm. It was glorious.

Animals can be so therapeutic for the ailments we suffer at the hand of our fast-paced culture.
They remind me that my Creator is not in a hurry.

Did you know that I love animals? I haven't talked about that in a while. Some people are reminded about God's character in the outdoors or in art or music. I see so much of His personality, His humor, His tenderness, and His power in animals.

These guys are more in the humor category.
Do you know that God meant for us to smile at this stuff?

I want to frame every one of the photos from this day. And perhaps not so much because they are extraordinary, but because they represent a day when our spirits were lifted, unburdened by responsibility; we were connected and brimming with joy, my children and I.

It's an afternoon I want to remember.

Wishing you one of those someday soon.
